An Insight into TDS Poland
TDS is a trusted software technology consultancy specialising in helping our clients deliver their projects to the highest standards, with our team members operating out of offices in Newcastle and Edinburgh in the UK, Wrocław in Poland and Calgary in Canada. With staff members located all over the world, our teams often meet up to collaborate in the same office, as well as to socialise outside of work.
Recently, the TDS Poland team visited the Newcastle office to spend time working in-person, but also to celebrate our sixth birthday and go head-to-head with our Newcastle-based team in a five-a-side football tournament.
We spoke to some of our TDS Poland team members about their roles at the company, their experience, responsibilities and what it is like working with TDS teams across Europe and North America.
The Relationship between TDS Poland and Newcastle HQ
At TDS, communication is key across all teams, no matter where they are based. It allows teams to work together, collaborate on important projects and ensure clients receive the best possible results.
“Communication is really similar to the Polish team, and even more so because there’s no major time difference for us in Poland, Newcastle and Edinburgh,” Principal Consultant Bartosz explains. “Coming to Newcastle to work and for TDS’ sixth birthday party has a huge impact on our communication because we are team building across the whole company and culture and getting to know each other better.”
For Senior Automation Engineer in Poland, Mariia Kozhbakova, being part of an international team is all about building connections. “Although we’re all thinking differently, we all do the same job,” she says. “We’re trying to achieve the same results and to work with clients, so it’s important we support each other to get the best results as possible.
“The main thing for me is what I can learn from people and what I can teach people.”
Regardless of where our team members are located, they all have the same goal. From staying ahead of UX evolution to provide the best user experience for clients and their audiences or using DevOps as a capability, not a toolset, our team is dedicated no matter where they are based, and they thrive off collaborating with their fellow team members to deliver the best project outcomes.
The TDS Poland Team
The TDS team in Poland is made up of developers, engineers, quality assurance experts and recruiters.
Adrian is one of our full-stack .NET developers who creates a range of apps using .NET and front-end technologies like React or Angular. His day-to-day role differs because each client at TDS is different.
“The culture here at TDS is one of the best,” Adrian says. “We have a really good group of people who can talk to each other and do things together inside and outside of work.
Bartosz, who first started as a Senior Developer at TDS, values the culture at the company and how it impacts communication.
“I really value how direct the overall communication at TDS is,” he says. “There’s no strictly defined structure and I like being able to communicate with people honestly and openly.”
This really benefits Bartosz in his current role, because since joining the company, he has developed internally at TDS into more of a consultant after spending some time as a Tech Lead. This hands-on experience across different roles gives Bartosz an insight into how different team members work within the team, enhancing his ability to support them and enhance project outcomes.
In his current role, Bartosz is one of the technical hiring managers, meaning he interviews candidates as part of the recruitment process, but he also works on outbound tech and outbound .NET community tasks, as well as line managing the whole Polish .NET Job Family at TDS.
Alongside her role as a QA Automation Engineer, Mariia is focused on TDS’ approach to implementing a mentorship programme to support people who are new to the technology industry. TDS is dedicated to creating pathways for individuals who may not typically have access to technology, for example, by highlighting the importance of women in tech, which a mentorship programme would support.
“This programme is a great opportunity because it’s both interesting and important to learn from someone as well as teach someone new skills,” Mariia explains. “There are a lot of opportunities, there’s a lot of technology to learn and anything is possible.”
Tech Opportunities in Poland
Poland is a powerhouse of technology talent in Central and Eastern Europe, with 25% of the region’s 600,000 developers working in the country. The tech ecosystem is thriving and offers not only a local reach, but global impact. Wrocław University of Science and Technology, located near the TDS Poland office, is one of the largest and best technical universities in Poland.
“Poland as a tech market has really developed,” Bartosz says. “There are a lot of big companies with branches in Poland because Polish developers are considered extremely talented and well-skilled.
“You learn a lot in higher education in Poland, how to learn new things or how to approach different processes. It’s good at developing a mindset to learn how to grow as a person and across every single thing that you have to work on.”
Poland is aspiring to become a leader in Europe’s tech-driven future, with the tech sector continuing to grow.
“Poland is a very ambitious country,” Bartosz says. “We have a lot of conferences and a lot of ways to learn new things and new technology.”
Not only was the Polish team’s visit to Newcastle focused on in-person collaboration with their colleagues, but both teams, as well as some of our staff from Edinburgh, came together to celebrate the sixth birthday of TDS. We held the TDS Champions League 2026, a five-a-side football tournament between the Newcastle and Poland offices.
At TDS, we are proud to have colleagues based across the world collaborating together on a range of projects for our clients.
